Since the very beginning, Opolis knew it wanted to develop collections that would reflect its commitment to shifting the industry standard of optics manufacturing, AND our commitment to cleaning up the planet.

So we did both.

By selling two types of upcycled collections;

(1) Bio-Acetate

(2) Recycled Plastic Bottles (PET)

We hope to shed light on the realities of the optics industry. Opolis wants to change how we invest in materials and manufacturing, in order to improve our planet on a local and global level.

Bio Acetate are plant based plasticizers made from natural materials such as red pulp, hemp, and cotton seeds. Instead of oil based plasticizers, the bio acetate is an environmentally friendly product made of renewable materials.

Recycled Ocean Plastic

Our StokedPlastic® collection is made of 100% recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate also known as rPET. Polyethyune Terapthalate is the main ingredient in plastic bottles. To ensure we are helping to leave the planet better than we left it, Opolis has teamed up with local rPET manufacturers based in Bali, Manila, and Nairobi to assist in the cleanup of their beaches, oceans and landfills while ensuring that local businesses that are making a positive impact on their community and environment are being recognized and rewarded.

What's the Big Deal?

The Circular Economy

We travelled the world, fell in love with our planet and found a way to make sustainable sunglasses along the way. We’ve devoted time and resources to create an honest and transparent supply chain that not only benefits the environment but the individuals and communities directly involved.

Opolis is an Opportunity. When you buy a pair of Opolis sunglasses, you have an opportunity to see clearly and look good, but you also have an opportunity to do good and create true change.

Choose a new set of shades to serve YOU and HER this year and all years moving forward. Yes, they are only sunglasses, but you only have one set of eyes and one earth. Help us take care of both.

Step 1

Our network of waste collectors from Manila, Bali, and Nairobi collect ocean and landfill plastic.

Step 2

Bottles are cleaned, headed, sorted, and the plastics are broken down while unusable parts are disposed according to the appropriate recycling chain.

Step 3

The rPET/upcycled materials are shipped via our climate neutral shipping, to our facilities in China. It is there that we turn them into the best damn eyewear out there.

Real Results

Which is why we work with countries and communities most impacted by the plastic pandemic to help, clean, engage, and educate.
